January Follow-Up Workshop

Page history last edited by jones_kenneth@colstate.edu 13 years, 9 months ago

On January 25th we explored tasks from several units.

From Unit 1, Matrices

  • How Many Acorns.doc - this problem involves setting up a system of linear equations.  It can be solve in many ways, one of which is setting up matrix equations and using the inverse matrix.
  • A New Way to Travel matrix problem.doc - students get transported from one school to another in this task.  It uses some of the same concepts as the Okefenokee Food Web Task.

From Unit 2, Polynomial Graphs

  • diagram of open box with tabs.xls - we explored this a little further by first building the boxes and then coming up with a general formula.  All concepts from MM3A1 could be explored

From Unit 3, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

From Unit 6, Data

  •  Sampling techniques using M&M's. - This task allows students to investigate various sampling methods to determine if they are random and if they produce representative samples of a population.
