CONICSTU.8xp -this is the program that allows you to enter the standard form equation for a graph. You will need TI Connect installed and a graph link cable to transfer the file to your calculator.

The explanation of how you can use the file is found in this pdf document - conicstu task utdana center.pdf

Cross Section Flyer Activity from http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/ConicFlyer/ - this was the website that had all of the interactive ways to explore the conics and their equations.

Graphing Circles.doc - we used this document for practice

circles task,Pt. 2, #3.doc - this is another document that we used for practice

completing the square.doc -practice sheet for completing the square, but could possibly be used for identifying the conics by characteristics (like in CONICSTU)

radio stations task.doc - use what you know about circles to determine the stations that Randy can receive

graphing parabolas.doc - another practice worksheet

graphing ellipses.doc - practice worksheet

Standard Equations of an Elllipse.doc - this is the document that I created for your summer notebook. The equations found in it **always **have a > b.

graphing hyperbolas.doc - practice worksheet

Exploring Conic Sections - this is the gsp book from the summer workshop. We did the activities below.

- Uncover the Imposter
- Finding Lengths
- Defining a Parabola
- Physical Model
- Concentric circles - did this for the parabola, ellipse, and the hyperbola
- Introduction to Hyperbolas
- X Marks the Spot

The Golden Gate Bridge - The Golden Gate bridge LT.doc This document builds on a problem from the frameworks.
